Satellite Rigs Of Today
« on: July 03, 2001, 06:17:43 PM »

Hi, I don't own a sat rig, I work the birds with an old 2 meter all mode  an HF rig and a mobil for 440 FM.
I'v been thinking of buying one of the new rigs on the market but can't make up my mind. If you have one of the new radio's and love or hate it for satellite work please post here.

I'm using a Yaesu FT-847. It's a nice radio, and supports Full-Duplex and Inverted-Tracking for easy use. It has a jack to connect a TNC for digital sats, and is supposedly "9600 Baud Ready", but I have a different radio for that use. It's also small enough to take on rover operations. The HF performance is just OK, but that's not what I bought it for.
