FLdigi and FT-847 with SCU-17: no sound TX RTTY
« on: March 05, 2023, 12:30:33 AM »

Hi all,

First of all sorry if this topic had been treated in another thread but I searched in eham.net forums with simmilar issues and I haven't get to solve it. So if anyone has any clue or can link me to another thread with any solution I'll be glad.

I'm getting crazy trying to configure FLdigi in Linux to work in RTTY with a Yaesu FT-847 and SCU-17. I've tried all the settings I've know. FT-847 can receive and makes PTT but when I tune it only PTT but no sound is transmitted. I've review all the sound levels and settings and I'm lost.
I can work with LinPSK and WSJT-X without problems.
I think that's a FLdigi config problem but I don't know.
Next some pictures with my FLdigi configuration.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Vic,

Looks like you have things set up.  Tnx for including config pictures!

Try using alsamixer, open it in a terminal.  Use F6 to select your card.  Use F5 to toggle between output/input/all and MAKE SURE it isn't MUTED.  :)

At one point, I had an update and for whatever reason, it muted my USB audio.  Grrrrrr  once unmuted, all was lovely and birds sang, clouds parted, folks danced in streets.

The SCU-17 does not work with the FT-847. The Tigertronics Signalink USB works well and you can add the required blocking capacitor on the header inside the unit.

Hi,

thanks for your answer. Of course I've used alsamixer too and pavucontrol also KDE Plasma widgets for controlling sound without results. With other digital modes applications I haven't any problem and they runs fine. Maybe with a different release of FLdigi can solve the issue.

Thanks.

The SCU-17 and the FT-847 can work together wonderfully making the appropiate connections between them (I have them into a little box with appropiate connectors). See this picture (it's in japanese but is perfectly undernstable):
