VP8NO Falkland Islands
« on: March 11, 2023, 11:30:22 AM »

VP8NO is on 6M (50.313) working a lot of stateside. He's the one who uses LoTW and has an address on his QRZ page. See him working stations in GA, SC, OK, TX, CO, AZ, to name those I looked up. I've had a copy on him for quite a while now at 1930Z. If you need him, turn your radio on to 6 meters. Also copying LU1WFU. TEP has been great here lately.

He was on 6 the other day. By the time I was able to hop on (I had been driving home from a work 'field trip') and try for him he had maybe 3-4 transmissions and then went QRT. Scrolling back I saw at times he was +4!! I see he's on today but no copy from FN20.

I was copying VP8NO but not as well as I'd like. (I have an impossible horizon to the South/Southeast.) I copied him right up until he announced QRT. <sigh> I've managed JA and KH6, so there is hope! Yes, TEP has been good. I've worked PV8AZ, LU7DK, plus LU5VV in the past week. AND today... after trying many, many times, I did finally get LU1WFU in the log and all are already confirmed. Thanks for the new grids!  :D

VP8NO is back on 6M again today at 1630Z. Just copied him +27! Got a pipeline to down there.

And just when I think I've really seen something...

He was strong to me too; got half a Q, never received a 73 from him. I've been chasing VP8 on 6m for years with no joy.

He beat the +36 with +37. Never seen anything like it, sent him this screenshot. Copied LU1ZV, (Antarctica) but couldn't get his attention. Would have been a new one on 6M. But did get ZD7BG. (Direct mail only) This is the best TEP I've seen, hope this summer is filled with more goodies on 6.

Gone now.  No love for me.   I have not gotten a new 6m country since summer.  Sitting on 96.

You said in another thread you need Peru. I've been copying OA4EA on 50.313 for a while now. Just saw him as +3. You may not can copy him, but he's there and propagation moves around sometimes.

No decode on Peru.  Seeing Brazil, Columbia and Ecuador right now.     It will come.   I have only been chasing 6m since summer of 2020.   Been in and out today trying to get storm damage cleaned up from last weekend.  Lost the 80' white pine that held up one end of a wire antenna for 40/75m.

Today was the very definition of (mostly) one-way prop. I heard everything well (better than -10 and some better than +00) but only worked a couple, and even those all but one I didn't get a 73. A lot of guys in the northeast were giving signal reports at least 10-15dB better than they were getting.
