Question on yaesu ft-8500
« on: March 15, 2023, 01:11:51 PM »

I recently purchased this radio as a backup. It has the “potato” mic with all the controls. I think it’s the fs-10

I understand there is another (option) mic this radio was sold with and I see on eBay other dtmf style mics that are compatible with this radio

My question is to the extent that the fs-10 mic with all the controls seems to manage everything, as the radio itself has no other knobs or buttons for these controls, how does the radio work with these other mics without any of the radio controls.

Thanks.

Oh boy.  The car-wreck-causing potato mic.  I had one of each flavor mic.  The other mic is the MH-39.  It had 1 wheel on the side for volume and squelch for both receivers.  There's a button you press to switch between the 2.  Hold it for 2 secs or so to switch to squelch adjustment.

As far as I know, the FS-10 and the MH-39 are the only one ones compatible.
