Yaesu FT-757AT
« on: March 22, 2023, 09:54:34 AM »

Getting ready to sell a Yaesu FT-757AT antenna tuner. This was sold as a companion to some of the Yaesu tranceivers in the early 1980s. I contacted Yaesu tech support to see if this tuner can be used with non-Yaesu rigs but was told that since it is no longer supported due to its age, they can't answer my question. I wonder if any of you have used that tuner with a non-Yaesu rig.

You have to use a band decoder if you want it to auto-track a non-Yaesu companion transceiver during band changes. This assumes the companion has band data available on an accessory connector.

I'm aware of two Yaesu rigs that are directly compatible in automatic mode: The FT-757GX/GXII and the FT-980.

You can use the FC-757AT with any other transceiver in manual mode if the procedure in the tuner's user manual is followed. I operate one of them with my FT-980 when running barefoot on various digital modes (i.e., FT8 via wsjt-x). Band changes become point and click at that point, once you let the tuner "learn" matching settings for each band.

Thanks for the info. Helping an inactive ham sell some equipment and I want to make sure that any buyer understands any issues or requirements for using the tuner with a non-Yaesu rig.
