Thinking my current washer is on its way out.  And have heard ugly stories of some new washers and or dryers that emit RFI on HF.

What makes and models are known for this, and I need to avoid?  TIA

I can't speak to current model washers and dryers but I have a pair of Whirlpool Duet front loader washer and dryer from about 5 years ago. These were the top of the line at the time. I had called the factory and got the part number of the Whirlpool RFI kits for these and I bought the pair from a real Whirlpool dealer not some big box store that has no service department. My dealer installed the EMI filters at their shop before delivery.

No EMI issues for me on this particular pair anyway. But your mileage may vary.

We have new SpeedQueen washer/drier and the washer was very dirty. I complained to SpeedQueen and they sent a line filter (looks like a 20A Corcomm filter) that worked perfectly. No noise now...except for the neighbor's washer!!!! Very loud.
They all emit RFI down the power lines, a filter will stop it inside the washer.

About two months ago we bought LG washer and dryer. Before buying them I was thinking the same as you now. Luckily, after using them for about 2 months almost daily, I have not noticed any problems on the HF bands. Nor on 6m.
These are the model numbers:
LG DLEX4000W (Dryer)
LG WM3600HWA (Washer)

I hope this helps.

I have a set of Maytag (made in USA) front loaders.  Had them for almost five years and no problems with interference.

I do know a couple of brands that have RFI issues right out of the box after working for a big box store for a few years.  One is Samsung. It seems the higher-end machines are more prone to RFI issues but, anymore, it seems almost all of them do since they are nearly all made in China and those manufacturers are clueless about RFI.

I have two neighbors that have them and they show up throughout all the HF bands and I can listen to them and hear the agitator churning at two or three different speeds.  Their DC motor controls generate most of this noise.  An RFI filter on the AC line would help but, neither of my neighbors would allow me to put one on their washers.  I made my own from a 20A RFI/EMI filter purchased on eBay and a 4x4 metal junction box, with a 1' male and female pigtail on either side.  They worked great for me.

I have a three year old Whirlpool washer and electric dryer. No RFI issues. The washer and dryer are only 100 feet from the HF antenna.

I had 2 LG's and they both killed my radios.

We now have an Electrolux at our Oregon qth and it is noiseless and no RFI from low HF to 900 MHz bands, the electrolux is a blessing for my receivers over the LG's which were noisemakers.

We have a second set of Electrolux  W/D at our Arizona QTH and they are also noiseless.

I'll never use LG after going thru 2 of them over the past 10 years and each one killed my receivers.
