It depends on your room acoustics, voice ability and signal to noise level in your ham shack.

The TS-890 puts a +8 volt mic. bias for use of excrete microphones. The RE-27 is a dynamic microphone with much lower output. Today's SDR radios have a very good audio pass band adjustment.

Adjusting your microphone dynamic range and audio pass band with the transmitter water fall display is very easy.

Well, I've heard a few of those "excrete" mics on the air, but the 890, like every Kenwood, uses a dynamic mic.

There's a lot of execrable audio around but never from TS-890S's :)  You could use an electret mic if you wanted but the Kenwood dynamic mic's are fine, including the low-output MC-90 which I use with my TS-890S (although these days via a small external audio rack). Your RE 27 is a gross overkill for SSB communication but if you do use it just set the equalizer to progressively reduce the bass below about 300 Hz and the treble above 2.7 kHz or so.  Start by cutting rather than boosting, set the bandscope to centre mode and observe the transmitted spectrum, and have a listen via the transceiver audio monitor mode.  At that point, enlist a knowledgeable listener or two.

The re27 is a dynamic mic with 150 ohm impedance and a XLR connector. output about -51dBm.
The TS890 uses a 9 pin input jack, 600 ohm impedance input, and about -70 dBm input levels.
Expect to make adjustments.

9-pin?  Are you counting the shell perhaps?  Looks like an 8-pin Foster connector on my '890.

Yea... 8 pin.  I fat-fingered it... sorry.
