Here is what I found with QRP from Hawaii for POTA...
« on: March 29, 2023, 07:06:55 AM »

I went to Hawaii back in February and took the radio from the previous blog post (Elecraft K1) and was able to activate a park with it. Turns out I have a whole new appreciation for our fellow ops in KH6 land... It was way harder than I was expecting but very rewarding at the same time. If you get the chance, I recommend you give it a try. Here is a link to the write up I did on my blog about the trip if your interested.

Hawaiian weather is quite localized.  There are wet and dry areas of the islands.
Lihue Kauai is reasonably dry yet has good propagation to the USA.
Sand Island on Oahu is another popular spot, far away enough from the mountains to get over them.
