The original power supply for the 890 was the Yaesu FP-800 power supply/speaker combo.  If you can't get one of those-and it may be tough-any good 13.8V 20 AMP power supply will do just as well.  The specs for the 890 say that it draws 20 AMPS at transmit (100W), but the QST lab review done in 1992 states that the 890 only drew 14 AMPS on transmit.  Just to be safe, I would get a power supply capable of 20 AMPS continuous, such as the MFJ 4125 or 4225MV, the Astron R35A or SS25, or the Samlex SEC-1223.  Any of these should do the trick.Power supplies made by the rig manufacturer for a particular radio tend to be more expensive than third party manufactured equipment, and aren't any better.

I use an Astron SS-30 (no meters) power supply, which is rated at 25A cont and 30A intmt. Also use same supply for FT-100D and FT-990 when those rigs get the nod. Had SS-30 about 18 months and would buy again in a minute. BTW, no apparent noise generation either, which is not always the case with PS's. Good luck.
