Idea for VHF/UHF Operations
« on: March 02, 2004, 06:03:06 PM »

This may or moay not have already been mentioned, I didn't see it, so thought I would post it here in the hope that others might find it helpful. Especially those that operating VHF/UHF.

This project took me about an hour to toss together, including the time to set the VSWR on the antenna itself. Which by the way is 1.1:1 across the entire VHF band.

The antenna I am making reference to is the 3 element tape measure antenna. Extremely portable, provides a solid 7dB of gain, light weight, should handle upto 40 maybe 50 watts, who knows maybe more even.
Do a search on Google.com for the antenna, and follow the directions carefully, then after you are done with the work of art, and have set the VSWR where it should be, you should have no problem hitting that repeater, and since it is so protable, you could set it on the patio or the deck a wave length above and you'll still get great range.

Hope this helps a few others out, if not, you'll have a great little prortable antenna that is great for camping.
