mq-26 Quad
« on: January 26, 2006, 02:21:13 PM »

Hi all, I need some help please. I have at the moment 2 poles one with a vertical on and another with a 2m/70cms vertical, about a metre apart. When I install my quad I need the full space for the turning circle and wondered if I could use one mast pole and mount the 2m antenna above the quad without causing any loss on the quad's performance. I was intending to use a fibre glass pole from the rotator. I can not see a problem as the mast pole covers the bottom half of the reflector but was unsure if I could do this.
Thanks for reading.

The VHF vertical won't affect the way the MQ-26 quad works, at all.  You really should not need to use a fibreglas mast, either -- that quad works fine with an aluminum or steel mast, as it's horizontally polarized.

People do this *all* the time.

In reality, you could probably mount the VHF vertical right in the middle of the MQ-26 (literally, at the same height as the quad, stuck in the middle of the quad) and that wouldn't impact the way it works, either.
