I have a Garmin GPS55AVD aviation handheld GPS that I have had since circa 1992-93 that was hot stuff for us pilots in its day. (no more Loran! Yea!) Anyway, now I would like to hook it up to an alinco dr-135tp and go mobile aprs. I have 3 problems.
1) I dont have the original power/data cable plug (that came with the mounting bracket) because I never used the mounting bracket... instead using a aftermarket yoke mount with a cigaratte lighter power plug.
2) Assuming I can aquire or make up a cable, the gps manual talks of a NMEA "A" , "B" and shield leads... how would these be wired to the mini-plug on the Alinco? (will damage result if trial and error gets them reversed? or is there a standard?)
3) Interfaces listed for the gps are NMEA 0180,0182,0183 version 1.5: dec 1987) with quite a number of approved sentences and transmission rates (time).... however I have no information on baud rate, parity, etc... IE: will this even work?
Any information or ideas would be helpful.
