Globe Scout 65B Pi Network
« on: March 20, 2001, 10:02:12 AM »

Has anyone else out there had trouble loading up their Globe Scout 65B? That's the one with the pi-network tank circuit and a 365 pf bcb variable at the input and output.

Using the MFJ SWR analyzer and a resistor in place of the final, I found it was very tricky to resonate and easy to tune up on the wrong harmonic.

The Handbook pi network circuits usually show a 150 - 200 pf cap on the input side and a 700 - 1000 pf cap on the output side of the pi. However, there isn't room to fit one of those big bcb variables in the Scout.

Any suggestions/ideas are appreciated.

Thanks.
