Back in 1954 I bought a surplus radio packaged in a flip-top snap-latched watertight aluminum case (about 12"x12"x24" if I remember it correctly)
The box contained the batteries, receiver (1A4,etc type tubes)and transmitter. My mentor, W7CVI, helped me modify the unit and I used it for my first transmitter.
Does anyone know what this radio was used for during WWII? I have always suspected it was a spy-radio, but have no idea of what its intended use was.
