Thanks for your ideas on what I incorrectly though

To KA5N, K0OD, W8JI, and WB2WIK: Many thanks for your ideas. I found that what I have IS a Viking Two. It is mounted in a factory-made cabinet that is not like the usual ones, and may be an export-only model.
