Doppler direction finding unit help wanted
« on: June 02, 2004, 06:17:58 AM »

Hi all,

I would like to build a doppler direction finding system for mobile fox hunting. I know I have to switch on one of the four antennas at a time, and that I have to build the control box on wich I can see in which direction the fox is. Can anyone tell me where on the web I can find a good description on how to build this system.

Thanks in advance

Jacques VE2EMM has a PIC controller-based doppler
system on his website:
http://www.qsl.net/ve2emm/index.html#index

There are many other designs out there on the web: one
place you might start looking is www.HomingIn.com,
which has a good section of links, information about
switching systems, etc.

The best Radio DF ham info site I know of is at:

  http://members.aol.com/homingin

This is a site maintained by one of the most experienced hams in DF'ing, Joe Moell, K0OV.  His book has been a classic for many many years, and is frequently updated.  If you're really interested in DF'ing, I'd highly recommend it.  In any case, you can get a wealth of info off his web site.

PS:  That AOL website has been having provlems and may be very slow to load, until AOL fixes it.  Worth trying, though.
