Easiest solution to this is to build a Ramsey FX-146 as a kit. Then use an outboard power amp like a Mirage B-23 or equivalent. (This is what I did.)
The Ramsey will get you a few watts out and the external power amp does the rest. The B-23 was good for about 30w out, but there are other amps on the market that will provide greater output.
You can get the FX-146 kit for $99 and the amp will probably run another hundred or so if you buy one brand new. Ten-Tec also has a kit that you can buy either with or without an RF power amp for around $200.
The main benefit from building one of these kits is that you will learn what goes into one of these rigs and how it actually works by the time you're finished. The other benefit of using a kit is that if you followed the directions, and you aren't a butcher with a soldering iron, you'll have a working rig when you are done. Highly recommended.
