Any databases for old calls from the 70's?
« on: March 01, 2009, 09:33:12 PM »

I had a novice license when I was about 7 years old or there abouts in the early 1970's.  I think it was WN8TRV.  Unfortunately I don't have complete confidence this was the correct call and don't have anything to check from that era.  Does anyone know of any database of calls from the 1970's I can check?
thanks,

Wouldn't you know.....  just after posting this I see that QRZ has an article on this very topic.  Still, if anyone has an old call book and can check for me, I would be grateful.

It wasn't the early 70s--WN8TRV was first listed in the Winter 75-76 book, and yes, it's you.

The next year your callsign was changed to WB8TRV, still as a Novice, when the FCC eliminated all the WN callsigns.

Thanks for the help- I guess the memory drifts abit as I get older.  Probably when I'm 70 I'll have gotten that first license when I was 3!

Boy when I chucked my obsolete callbooks I had no idea they would be collectable in 30 years. I wish I had them now.
