Do you notice this on all bands or just 60 meters?  If it's the latter, I would suspect that it falls in the same realm as the ICOM thread here, i.e. output design does not accomodate the band.

As a result, I don't operate 60 meters at full power.

Let me know how more I can help.

Hello,
I am also using a ft 847 with the mars mod which covers 60 meters. Upon reading your question I tested my radio into a dummy load and found that on the assigned 60 meter band my 847 has full output in all modes. What is the SWR being presented to your radio? Perhaps the radio is folding back the power due to a mismatch. Good luck Frank kc2htg

I have the same problem, my swr's went way out there and cant seen to get them with in reason to operated, my tuner (fc20) tune the everything, until I key up then the swr's go crazy and the power went =
from full power to almost no power.
as for as the other bands (2m,6,440)(have'nt tried hf - tech here)

Since the G5RV is not a True resonate antenna and

operates on harmonics, could that be the problem?

Easy enough to check...try a dummy load..If you

have a analyzer check the SWR on the dummy load at

that freq. first...then compare..kind of sounds like

 a fold back SWR problem...hope this helps/ AFT2KA/WV
