A late but appreciative THANKS!
« on: November 22, 2006, 09:45:39 AM »

During the first gulf war I was a Flight Engineer on the mighty C-141B StarLifter.  We routinely flew back and forth over the pond to Germany and then downrange into the AOR, delivering troops and cargo.  We were able to keep in touch with home through the use of MARS phone patches.  I’m retired now but MARS was one of the things that finally pushed me to get my tech ticket.

So to all the volunteers in the program, a hearty thanks for all you did (and are doing).

Even though I didn't have a thing to do with it, you are most welcome.

Make the experience comple; join one of the MARS branches, especially Navy-Marine Corps MARS. :)

Lon,

Does the Navy have PP stations?

I note that Naval AC use the AF MARS
frequencies for PPs.  Nothing wrong
with that, but just wondering.

The AF guys have realised they get better
patch service on MARS than GHFS and
often mention it to the MARS guys.

Ronnie:

Yes, but there aren't too many of them left. Not a big demand any more.

The USAF MARS Phone Patch net is very active on a daily basis, providing communications for military aircraft.
