I can't tell anybody about their mail order service, as I am only a 30 minute drive away from the store (lucky me, hee hee!). However, I can relate my experiences from past visits to Universal. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Almost all the equipment that they offer for sale is connected and ready to play with. If you are wanting to buy just an old QST magazine or a new $4K rig, you will receive the same courteous help. Any questions about the differences and similarities between rigs (e.g., 2m mobiles), they will provide you with all the iformation you could possibly want to know to make an informed decision to purchase. They are not pushy. If you say "just looking", they will leave you alone to look until you are ready to purchase or leave. They do not try to push one particular brand. I have dealt with other dealers BTW (on the web and in person), but only if Universal does not carry an item. They receive all my business for major purchases. I am very pleased with Universal.

In the past 15 years or so, I've bought two pieces of gear from them and been pleased both times.

The 2 or 3 experiences I've had with them were good and they've got a nice catalog.

I would have to echo the good sentiments. I have only bought one rig from there, and that was in person. The courteous and helpful staff let me take my time and compare. The store is attractive and there is much to see and play with. They've always quickly answered my e-mail questions, too.

Well, I can report on their mail order service.  It is A-1.

I live close enough to drive to the showroom but it is about an hour and a half away so I use mail order for the small, non-urgent stuff.  I have always received the merchandise in good condition and very promptly.

Nothing is a substitute for the 'in-store' experience though.  These guys are great and have alot of advice for the beginner.  I went in with a list of things I (thought) I needed to get started and they looked my list over, explained why I really didn't need some of the things. I spent only about half as much as I expected to when I went in yet still had all I needed to get set up thanks to these guys.

One of two first class Ham stores that is within driving distance of my home.  Haven't mail-ordered anything but have shopped there and enjoyed their service.
