I am interested in using my Icom 718 or Icom 706 MKIIG remotely over the internet. Anyone doing that with these transceivers?

Also would like information regarding REMOTELY switching antennas,disconnecting antennas, grounding antennas and turning solid state linear on and off with remotely controlled switching.

Would appreciate a block diagram showing hardware and application of various soft ware. The simpler, the better.

I'm sure there are some using the 718. Many use Ham Radio Deluxe (HRD) for rig control and Skype for VOIP. Check out the HRD support forum at http://forums.ham-radio.ch. You can download Ham Radio Deluxe at http://www.ham-radio-deluxe.com/Downloads/tabid/54/Default.aspx.

Regarding antenna switching, etc, I had some old dow-key 110v relays laying around and use them to switch antennas between a Yaesu FT1000MP and an Icom 746 Pro. I use the Yaesu when I'm operating locally and the Icom when I'm operating the station remotely. I'm sure there are more elegant ways of switching antennas but I used what I had on hand.

I use a web power switch (http://www.digital-loggers.com/lpc.html) to turn power off to the various 110v equipment. This is a web-based power controller that allows you to remotely control the 8 AC outlets contained in the unit. I have the 746 plugged into one of the AC outlets and the dow-key relays pluged into some of the others, allowing me to turn the rig on/off and switch antennas around as necessary.

You can use 'Commander' sofware to control the rig and interface to it using W4MQ Remote Base software. I used this system with my IC-718 and it worked great.
