This is a rf that seems to be quite broad-banded, from my wife's AM radio to my HF receivers in the shack, mostly sounding like white noise but up close with an AM radio it has a very deep hum. This is one of the new meters that transmit a signal to the meter reader driving a truck down the road - saves all that walking from house to house.
I had been noticing this for some time, but it wasn't until I built a ground plane vertical on the house roof - about twenty five feet away from the meter - that I really got concerned. The noise level on the new antenna is about five dB higher than the antennas out in the woods.
Before the power company comes out, I'd like to have some background on the limitations of RFI they are allowed. Google hasn't been too much help.
Thanks,
