Ok, I know this is mainly classified as a HF QRP rig, but now that i've got my General and looking for a portable HF rig, this rig also has vhf/uhf with enough power to work the fm birds. I just dont know if its practical enough for it. while i normally use a Kenwood TH-G71A with lapel mic and earphone and an Arrow beam its light to be clipped to the belt and easy to change frequencys to compensate doppler shift. Now granted the 817 will weigh more but how easy will it be to change frequencies(memories) and performance?
Am i just making a mountain out of a mole hill?
