New Product Announcements

eHAM has started allowing our paying advertisers to generate articles (some will appear on the homepage) so that they can spotlight new products.  Our articles area is the best suited for this because it allows HTML and photos.  Depending on the popularity and response, we might limit the number of these that take up room on the home page - perhaps to one at a time.

My question is, how do you users feel about this?  Do you think it's too commercial or perhaps you think the info gained is worth it?  What else?

I think it is fine as long as they are clearly labeled as a paid
advertisement, or as a new product announcement provided by
a company, and not an impartial review by an actual user.

New products are news items. This is important to the hams and to the manufacture. Small & new manufactures can not always afford the full page ads in the magazines.  I do not find this will change your site to a sales billboard. I believe eham will be providing a service.

I like the idea of featuring new products on the Home Page. You might consider a list with a very brief description of what the product is, linking to the manufacturer's home page, if too many complain about commercializing the site. Personally, I'd like to see it as you proposed.

Sounds like a good idea to me. Hams love new stuff, and this feature will help the small mom and pop shops make their products better known.

Sounds good to me - as long as you don't paper half the home page with ads.
