Motorola Repeater amplifier help
« on: June 13, 2001, 11:02:46 PM »

I recently purchased a repeater amplifier online at ebay. Its a motorola model number TLD1693E?This is whats stamped on it anyways.Pictures of the amp are located at "http://www.qsl.net/kg4ceo/TLD1693E/" I can not get the amp to amplify any input wattage. The seller told me that it worked. But I am begining to wonder. There is no paper work or anything about this amp that came with it.Or can i seem to find any help online.I am posting this in hopes someone with some input about it would drop in and help.If anyone has used this type of amp or knows where I can get help with it please let me know? Thanks in advance!

I don't know anything specific about that model. Your best bet
for Motorola information is BatLabs (http://www.batlabs.com/)
with this site being a second http://www.repeater-builder.com/.

Good luck. Motorola makes awesome hardware.

Thanks for the info.I had a friend take a look at it.He found it was missing a ground to the control head.So now it works fine as long as that one pin is grounded on TX.I would like to find the plugin meters that goto the back of this amp if possible now.

Your photos look like a MICOR base station PA.  You might ask your local radio shop if you could browse their VHF base manuals.

I have a Question, Are you using this amp for Amatuer Radio(Since it was originaly designed for 150.8-162MHz)?  Does it actually work on the ham bands with no mods?  If so, does it work across the entire 2 meter band ?  Does the power diminish from one end of the band to the other ?
