Quality in Amateur Radio Equipment.

I Recently purchased a HY Gain DX-88 vertical antenna. Installed it with great expectations of many years of trouble free use. This unit replaced a Mosley vertical that gave me 35 years of trouble-free service.
The DX-88 went up in April 2006 and came down late August 2006. No wind, no conceivable reason for its demise.
Upon inspection, the base mount had failed. Plastic mount fittings snapped and the antenna headed south.
Also the inspection found that the connection at the mount to tubing inside the plastic base was defective. This answering the question I had about SWR problems I was experiencing with this unit.
Any one looking to purchase one of these antennas beware. Consider beefing up the base assembly to support this antenna. It is quite heavy and existing structure is inadequate for its weight.

Anthony, You need a Zero-Five Multibander. It won't come down, built like a tank. Check the reviews here on Eham.
