KC7ATV MARLON WILSON ***WARNING TO ALL***!!
« on: July 07, 2006, 10:06:43 PM »

We made an internet transaction with Marlon Wilson of Carson City Nevada back in mid March. We received a couple of emails after the transaction and then nothing. No goods! No replies to emails and no chance of recovering the money we spent. Just felt we should warn others of this deception! Any chance we could get the Ham community to contact him regarding his errant behaviour. Would appreciate any suggestions about how we could deal with this S.O.B. as we are down AU$420. Regards Julie'n'Brian SWL's from down under.

If you did any of the transaction through the US mail service from the AU mail service, there may be a slight chance of trying to get the person by "yelling" mail fraud. The $$$ amount would have to be pretty high to get anyone's attention, I think. Otherwise you probably are out of luck since a transaction between two countries is hard to prosecute.  Good luck.

Hi,

Go to

http://www.usps.com/postalinspectors/fraud/MailFraudComplaint.htm

and submit a U.S. mail fraud complaint.  (I suggested this to a friend who was gypped out of $2K on an eBay transaction.  The postal inspector got involved and ultimately the con artist was arrested in a different state.)

Good luck, Mike K6VCI

Ecellent advice. Despite jokes and disparagement of the Post Office in general, the Postal Inspection Service is a serious Federal Law Enforcement Agency  (with teeth, and they carry guns) which trains with the FBI at their academy in Quantico,VA.

They do their job well. There was a US Postal Inspection Service long before there was an FBI.
