I printed up a few business cards on heavy stock
with my name and callsign on it along with
my email and office phone number and the word
REWARD just in case I misplace my gear.
In school I did the same re the printed
cards with name, address, e-mail, all phones numbers, reward,
on them.
When I was in college I put them in all of my textbooks, all my notebooks,
book bags, laptop, lab books, etc. I had made up **hundreds** of 4 x 6" "Flash Cards"
for studying things that just HAD to me memorized, i.e. in Human Anatomy:
bones, bone feaures, joint articulations, tendons, ligaments, muscles, muscle insertions,
muscle origins, etc. By the end of one semester I had a total of
6 black plastic boxes of cards, each containing 250 to 300 cards. One night
when *completely* exhuasted after a 10 hour study session, I left them at the library
in a plastic bag. When I got home I realized what had hapened and freaked OUT.
The next day I went to the library and they hadn't been turned in.
I was CRUSHED as finals were approaching in 3 weeks!
The day after that I received a phone call....a nice student had **picked
the card box files out of a trash can in the library**, put them
in her backpack, and called AND emailed me saying that she
had them. I offered her a $100 reward but she turned it down,
saying it was "the right thing to do" and that obviously I had
put hundreds of hourse into making those cards. (About %25 had
photocopies of images taken from from textbooks taped to
one side, with the name of the bone/muscle/insertion etc
on the other side). THAt takes LOTS of time to do, I'll tell ya!
There ARE good people in this world!
