Has anyone else tried repairing these capacitor
end caps with hot glue.I measured the capacitance
with new caps installed and then replaced them
with old weather beaten and cracked ones which i
proceeded to patch up with hot glue. The readings
were the same as the new ones. I also ran the glue
over the edges slightly for better water proofing.
As the dielectric for the capacitors is air and the
end caps only provide seperation with little effect
as a dielectric i see no reason why this method
should not be ok. Before anyone calls me a cheapskate
the price of a new set airmailed to NZ is $95 NZ..
the price we pay for a bad exchange rate.!
