Anyone have one of these? I'm especially interested in how the Sigma-80 works with the Tornado . . .

Hi, Rick

From the title of your post, I thought that you were asking about the Sigma 80 vertical's ability to survive a tornado.  Then I realized the Tornado is a new product by Force 12 designed to tune a 40/80 m vertical. I think a better description is needed on their website, as well as more info on their new vertical.  Looks exciting, though, and I'm definitely interested.

BTW, I've been using the Sigma-40XK for several weeks now, and like it very much.  Will write a review of it after I've had a chance to operate it on 40 meters-- so far have tried 17, 20, and 30 meters with good results.

Rick,

After checking out F12's web-site more thoroughly, I've gleaned the following information.  Apparently there are two versions of the Tornado-- one to adjust the inductance of a single coil for a quarter-wave vertical; the other to adjust two coils for a vertical dipole such as the Sigma 80.  F12 claims with the Tornado installed, the Sigma 80 can cover not only the entire 80 and 75 meter bands, but 40m as well.

The Sigma 80 is certainly looking more attractive; however I haven't seen a price for either of the Tornado models.

Since the price of the Tornado + Sigma 80 is over $1000, I've decided to stick with my elevated Cushcraft MA8040V with 32 tuned and sloped radials.

Getting rid of radials for a cost of over $1000 just doesn't seem worth it. But it was tempting!
