C3SS as 3 el. 20M monobander or Moxon?
« on: April 22, 2006, 06:23:19 AM »

am guessing that if I just used the 20M reflector and driven element on the C3SS that it would act like a 20M monobander (please correct me if this is an incorrect assumption).

If that is true, then I am wondering if I could take the 15M reflector and use it as a 20M director - thus turning the C3SS into a 3 element monoband antenna on 20M?

Just "musing". I am trying to go as low profile as I can - and would like to either use some of the C3SS hardware to make a 3 element yagi - or maybe turn it into a Moxon rectangle beam.

I received a very good response from a very well respected antenna expert / engineer. He said that the C3SS with its interleaved design is not a good candidate for modification.

So I have ordered 4 Cabela's Crappie Poles and will go to the local OSH store and pick up pipe flange and a pipe "cross" connector and build a Moxon Rectangle for 20M, and use a tuner for the higher bands.
