Kenwood MCP Software Not Working?
« on: August 26, 2000, 10:24:02 PM »

I don't know whether I've got a dud radio or whether I'm missing something with the software.  I am trying to clone one TH-G71 into another, but the software reports a communication timeout error.  I tried copying the file into a new file (same contents, different name), but no change.  The contacts seem to be OK, because an external mic/speaker works, although I suppose there could be something flakey in the HT.

Has anyone had any similar experience with this software?  It's not the software setup or cable, since it still reads/writes on the first G71.  I'm puzzled...

Try attaching all of the connections to the radio and reboot the computer.  Make sure you are on the correct computer port.  When you bring the program up try to read the radio on a empty file first.  If this works then write to the radio with your new program.  I have had simular problems before with commercial and amateur programming.  I hope this helps, it's worth a try.
