An experimental session of the Old Dominion Emergency Net will be held on the third Wednesday of each month at 2045L (EST) on or about 144.250 USB, horizontal polarization.
The purpose of the 2-meter ODEN is to encourage Technicians to participate in Virginia ARES / RACES activities and to help teach them the skills they will need to operate on HF when they upgrade. The net will also evaluate the potential of 2-meter SSB to provide effective ECOM within each of the Virginia RACES Operational Areas. Net control for the first experimental ODEN will be State RACES Training Officer KE4SKY, who will be operating from Fairfax County, ARES / RACES District Two, FM18jt.
Volunteer alternate net controls are sought to assist in providing net calls from fringe coverage areas and coordinating relays, as well as to serve in NCS rotation from each RACES Operational Area on subsequent nets. If you are willing to to assist in this capacity please contact State RACES Training Officer KE4SKY@att.net
You DO NOT have to have a "big gun" station or be a member or Virginia ARES / RACES to participate in this net. All amateurs regardless of affiliation or location are encouraged to check in. During disasters all available assets will be exploited, therefore no one shall be excluded.
