Software to program radio memory via soundcard and DTMF

Hi Folks,
I have several radios that allow “Over the air” programming of a 2nd radio of an identical type.  This is commonly referred to as “Cloning.”  I believe this is accomplished by the “Transmitting” radio sending DTMF tones to the receiving radio.

It would seem this would be possible to develop software to reproduce the tones created by the “Transmitting” radio with a PC and a soundcard.  Has anyone heard of anyone attempting to do this before?  Is any software available now that would perform this?

I’m sure tired of programming my radios by hand.
