Cable/Software for FT-757GX
« on: September 27, 2010, 05:33:12 AM »

I was recently given a Yaesu FT-757GX.  I want to use the CAT feature to control the rig remotely.

Does anyone know where I can get the cable and/or software?

I don't know about software, but the control interface is a single TTL level input.  A three conductor header designed to mate with square pins on 0.1" centers will mate with it, but I just use a couple of wirewrap jumper type connectors.

I would imagine a diode and some resistors would work for the appropriate level conversion from a standard RS232.

It's data into the FT757 only, the third pin on that connector is the AGC voltage out.

As I recall, it's 4 or 5 characters at 4800 bps for all the commands.

I have the 757GX2 and just purchased both the keying and rig control cables from Phil W1GEE (http://www.hosenose.com/interfaces.asp).  He is outstanding when it comes to customer service and is willing to answer any questions you might have.
