1 3-band antenna, 2 rigs
« on: October 07, 2010, 10:21:37 AM »

I have a 2/220/440 Comet antenna, which i'd like to use with a 220 and a 2/440 rig. As inelegant as it sounds, the only way I can see to do this is with a triplexer to pick off the 220, then going into a diplexer to recombine the 2 and 440. I haven't bought the rigs yet, but haven't seen a 2/440 with separate antenna connectors. I would even go with separate 2 and 440 rigs, but have only seen the Alinco 440 'unibander'. This is my first new station in about 10 years; last time I was doing this with an ICOM 901 which had separate connectors on the each band module. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Bob,

What about a decent quality two-position coax switch to switch the antenna between the two rigs?  Seems like that would do the job, and might be a lot cheaper than one or more diplexers.

That's true so long as you only want to use one rig at a time. A triplexer/diplexer combination would let you operate both radios simultaniously.

Thanks, both. I did want to have the option of running more than one rig for receive.
