It depends on what you are going to use it for.  We have the Comet antenna on my Wife's VX-5R and it works great at her work location ( a hospital).  Of course, the 70CM repeater hub she accesses there is line-of-sight to to the building she works in.  I can also hit a 70CM hub, about one mile from my home.  As far as 2M, it is very hit or miss with this little antenna.

Hi
I'm partial to the armpit tickler antennas, but if they're too long for whatever reason a standard duck with one of the "tiger tails" attached does very well and is much more flexible.

Looking at available, published specs, neither one stands out.  To reiterate, you are likely to be disappointed with the performance of either antenna on VHF frequencies, at other than line-of-sight distances.

I made the big mistake of buying a new VX-7R recently. The radio is a cute deal but performs terribly, expecially with the stock antenna. I am on my 2nd unit (warranty replacement 3 weeks after purchase). At the moment, I am using the Diamond SRH320A. Its a bit longer than the original antenna, but is very flexible. It will transmit on all 4 bands. I cant really compare it to anything else, because the radio still has horrible receive, even with the longer antenna. Dont expect any miracles with this radio.

I've had pretty good luck with the stock antenna.  Tried a couple others at a hamfest but they did not seem to perform any better in limited testing.

My VX-7 has very good receive (as does my FT-270).  I can hit repeaters 10 miles away from inside my house, 20 miles away standing on my back deck, and receive stations even further away.
