Central Oklahoma Radio Amateurs(CORA), Inc. will sponsor the 36th annual "Ham Holiday 2011" on the 29th and 30th of July, 2011 at the Biltmore Hotel, 401 S. Meridian (I-40 and Meridian), Oklahoma City. Doors will open Friday evening at 4 till 8:00 PM and on Saturday from 8 AM till 3 PM. Admission at the door is $10.
With an expected attendance of over 1,000, "Ham Holiday 2011" is the largest amateur radio 'hamfest' in Oklahoma. This year's event is designated the Oklahoma State Convention for the American Radio Relay League, a national amateur radio organization. A new feature this year will be a banquet on Friday evening. For banquet information, contact David Duskin, NE5S (ddgold@cox.net).
The annual event draws amateur radio operators from Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, Texas, and Arkansas to gather for social and official business. "Ham Holiday 2011" gives 'hams' a chance to have 'eyeball contacts' and put a face with the voices they hear on the air. "Ham Holiday 2011" will include forums on various areas of interest to amateur radio operators including emergency communications, emergency antennas, and organizational meetings to name but a few. There will also be a 'flea market' and commercial displays by amateur radio equipment dealers and manufacturers. Also on Saturday, tests for amateur radio licenses will be conducted by members of the ARRL Volunteer Examiners Corps beginning at 9:00 till 11:00 AM.
