I gotta say I used a company in china to order my last batch of QSL cards.. They were  HALF what others charge for full color glossy cards.

And the real reason I liked them was their website.  They made it super easy to just upload images of the front and back of my card design and show me what it would look like before it was printed, and then it clearly showed the status of my order.

I have not seen many other QSL printers put that much effort into their website.

Total cost of $45USD ($25/500 printing + $20 shipping) to get printed 500 full color glossy cards with my own full color photo design just can't be beat.

$45 for 500 cards is no bargain. At that price i would keep my money in the USA

I design my own cards. Then take the design to Office Max to have the cards made up. I can preview them before the final printing, and correct any mistakes. They are somewatt expensive, but are an extention of my ham operation and personal view. My cards are my cards and no one has any the same as mine.

This is opinion on QSL cards. I do not send a great deal of them out. I only respond if I receive one. I will send one on a very unusual contact. My sets of cards last years.

Having some graphics skills and the requisite software (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat), I designed and printed my own on my home printer.  This way I can print them as I need them and I don't have a box of 250 or 500 taking up space in my somewhat cramped office.  It's a lot more cost effective than buying in bulk, especially sine I don't send out many right now.

I did the samething until I started needing to print 100 or more at a time and wanted to put ink-consuming graphics on the front of the card. Then it got way too expensive to do it that way. I still print any one-off cards I might need for limited use.

If a box of 1000 cards takes up precious room in your shack, you might want to consider a new shack location/size. A box of 1000 cards is roughly 4"x6"x12". I have a bookcase next to the operating desk and have 4 such boxes along with many other boxes of cards and QSLing supplies. If you operate much at all, you'll eventually need the room so start planning now :)

I am on my fourth shack redesign/layout in 20+ years. Almost ready for a new expansion since I have started to outgrow this one.

$45 for 500 full color glossy cards is, its about the same price per card as UX5UO charges, but you can only order in increments of 1000 at time.

For Individuals to fight China it's like fighting the Wind, you just can't win.
Some how the very rich companies in this country have made Americans forget that the most powerful weapon to dismantles countries like China in a day, is used all over the world except in the USA. That is TARIFFS, what people need to be doing is forcing the politicians to put a 40% Tarriff on everything coming into the USA with a Made in China label on it.

Some people will say you can't do that because the prices of everything will go up.  That's only partly true, the prices on a very few items may go up but for the Majority the prices will remain the same, reason is that the $900 TV you buy at Wallymart cost about $300 Landed in the USA, guess who's making the huge markup? If 40% is added in an economy like this Wally and the rest know the only way they can sell those items is to lower the Markup or they will be out of business.  In the meantime the added Revenue from the duties will offset the deficit , even lower our taxes and it makes the idea of making these thing in the USA much more attractive, so you would see a rush to start producing things in the USA again.

BTW this is not a guess, I lived in a country that did just this and it worked perfectly, they saved their agriculture sector and the prices never went up.

Can someone explain to me why with the availability of QSL printers in the good old US of A, why anyone would order from out of the country...Oh I know...this company overseas has better color, or better graphics, or better selection, or better stock....Hmmmm maybe so I'm not sure... But when do we stop and say, lets do our best to keep our hard earned US dollars in the US...
I have no connection with any US company, and I have no axe to grind with any company overseas, I just think we should think about supporting our own...
And before someone says, oh hell all our ham gear comes from out of the country, why not our QSL-s...somethings we can't help, others we can...
JUST ONE MAN'S OPINION...

When US printers can match the quality and the price..I will shop locally. ...especially because of the amount I go through/

And that's the problem!
People have to start buying USA products in order to break the China cycle.  American companies need business in order to get volume up, once they have volume they can afford to offer lower the prices and buy better machines to make better products. Some sacrifice by us the consumer is needed to make this happen.

Without huge Tariff's on Chinese goods the only other hope for the USA is that the people develop a strong sense of shopping Patriotism, if none of the above happens it's all over, plain and simple!  I suggest for those who don't fully understand the scope of what is happening that you go look at some general Chinese forums using google translation.  It's an eye opener to listen to the general tone of the younger peoples, it's like they have declared war on the US and have a very clear goal. Not sure where the hostility comes from but they sure seem fired up to become number one and cut this country down.
