"quicke" pole antenna from QST late 90s...?
« on: November 13, 2011, 07:42:57 PM »

Hey All-

So a long time ago, probably between 1995-2003, I recall an article came out in QST in which a condo dweller or apartment dweller built a vertical antenna using a Quickie Mop extension pole.  I was wondering if anyone knows what I am talking about.  I remember it was published in QST, but I am wondering if anyone knows the issue number?

Thanks!

A quick QST archive search yielded only one hit for "quickie", none for "mop" (which means those weren't in the title or keywords).  Got any other search terms that might narrow it down?  Apartment, vertical, etc are too general.

Thanks Mark.  I did a quick search for 'vertical HF' and found the article I was looking for.  It was called "Paint Pole Vertical" by Anthony Salvate  N1TKS in the August 1995 issue of QST.

I really feel like I should have taken a little more serious of a look before posting this...

I remember seeing an article about a "broomstick" antenna somewhere, but I don't think it was QST.  I believe it was for a VHF or a 10 Meter vertical.
