13.6v 60 amp continuous power supply with back up
« on: February 05, 2012, 12:36:04 AM »

I bought a heck of a power supply on eBay for under a hundred bucks including shipping.  It's a Newmar IPS 12-60.  It is set up for 4 internal 12v 7 a batteries.  I think larger batteries may fit internally.  There are external terminals for a larger battery like a car battery.

I don't have anything to do with listing except to say mine was received in good shape and it appears to work.  I found a list price for the 40 a version. It was 2040.00.

Please keep in mind that without adding some large external batteries, your unit will be able to put out 60 Amps for less than 20 minutes (when the AC power is lost). However, it should be able to power a 100 Watt HF radio for two hours or so, assuming a 40% transmit duty cycle.
