This is the site...

http://www.mrx.com.au/

And this is what the download lets you do..

CW Communicator - MRX Software has developed a FREE CW chat program to communicate across the Internet or over a LAN. Supports Morse Code, Typing and Flashing Light. It can translate typed text to morse code and morse code to text on the fly. You can call CQ or simply practice your transmit with a friend or a group of friends in real time... Check out the Download page for more details!

I downloaded the program from there several times and every time I tried to open it it gave me an error about not being able to open the initialization file.

Hmmm...the last time I turned my HF transceiver on to make a CW contact, it worked right away.

On a more serious note, it does look like neat software...

Why would anyone want to use the Internet to make CW contacts? That's what radios are for.

Well Lon, that's how I learned CW and passed the exam. I got into real QSOs with folks in Canada, France, Ireland, etc. and had some fun times. I sucked at the beginning but I got better. They were helpful and understanding while I learned. I'd copy by sound but it was nice to have the program there in case I missed anything.

My buddy and I have offered our services to several people to do the same. Many people get nervous getting on the air and this is a safe way to learn (especially if you know the other party).

I think it definitely has a place.
