Even if you plant a fake camera ($15), social engineering can deter the theft. There are 433MHz modules and 2 low voltage 555 chips, one for audio generator, one to control on/off time, can be used in a plastic planting pot as a beacon and use 7r as a fox/hound. Double ziplock bag, and a few aa cells can work. The 7r is not gps/aprs by itself, I have one, the 8r can be, but that is not what you have. The 433 modules go a football field in open space, so it may not have enough watts if inside an aluminum sided home for longer detection.

If you decide to go with the claymore, remember "Front Toward Enemy"

I had a problem with trash cans disappearing. I set a box in the bushes that contained an old siren, a  battery, and a micro-switch with a pull pin. A piece of thread went from the pull pin to the trash can. Next time someone grabbed the can the siren went off. I found the can laying there with the siren running and never had another missing can.  ;D

I should have tried that one with the bears!!!!

That, and a camera to take a quick picture... if I'd really wanted lots of pictures of the south end of a northbound bear!
