USAF Mars Digital Mode question
« on: August 25, 2013, 07:26:21 PM »

Using a FT-857d that will be modified once my license arrives, which would be better on the digital modes in mars jt-65, Olivia, or mfsk16' the signal link USB or rigblaster. I have an I3 laptop with win7 ultimate for the operating system. Any and all comments, hints, or opinions greatly appreciated.

I can't speak to MARS modes (which some are proprietary) but I can tell you don't waste your money on the rigblaster, get the Signalink USB. AF MARS will let you know what SC mode they use once you join.

You may also want to consider a USB CAT cable for the 857, so that the software can control the frequency settings also.

I would agree with that.  I have never had trouble with the signalink and they are probably the cheapest unit on the market that works well.  It will allow you to use any of the sound card digital modes that any three of the MARS services use.  I use the signalink with a KX3; K3; Icom 7200 and TenTec Orion2.  It works equally well with all.

Get your application in and start enjoying whatever MARS service you decide to join.
