I am looking for 6.5" enclosures to replicate a speaker. However, most are carpeted !

Oh the humanity !

I am just going to build an interface box that will 1/8"(3.5mm) external speakers of any make.

Got any more for $50? I figure that you REALLY have a bargain there, even if it needs some work!

I have a National NC-98 that I restored. It works great, and I enjoy listening to it. I build a replica speaker out of wood from a picture of the original speaker. The speaker is available on EBay every so often, but sells for more then you paid for your radio. I used a 6" modern speaker in the enclosure.

Hope this helps.

What connector is that on the back? Looks like some sort of 4 pin.

Anyone know the speaker plug type? I do not want to remove or modify the original. Or do I have to add one?

The one I saw a picture of had two screws for the speaker wires on the back. Perhaps they had more than one version or somebody has already modified it.

The National 98 has two screw terminals for the speaker.

Don't laugh about the green paint.  When I was a youth I very cheaply got ahold of one of those big rackmount Hammarlund mil. receivers, whatever they are called, SP 600 or something?  Someone had spraypainted the face a nice puke green. And it looked like hell.  Ended up as parts.

One day, I am going to get a hideously condition boatanchor, overhaul the electronics and the mechanical, and then leave the shitbox appearance, and clearcoat it to preserve it. Just like they do to those weathered cars that they overhaul the guts.
