Outdoor Adventure USA (k6oau) would like to extend an invitation to everyone to join us for our weekly Amateur Radio Nets which we do every Thursday evening at 7:30 (PDT). The nets cover a wide ranging series of outdoor topics, all centered around motorized recreation (4WD), Ham Radio, and outdoor activities.
Here is a sampling of Net topics that we discuss:
outdoor medicine
Ham radio selecton
wilderness communication options
hiking
outdoor photography
first aid kit preparation
winching and recovery
ammunition reloading
HF/vhf and UHF antenna selection and construction
ARRL Field Day
tires, lights, batteries, storage systems
Each week we have a different expert who leads the discussion, including Ham radio experts, medical doctors, lawyers, engineers, 4WD drive mechanics, and off road driving instructors. We are always on the lookout for new Net Control Operators and new topic ideas.
If you are interested, we can suggest several ways to listen or participate.
1. We have direct 2 Meter and 440 repeaters in the following areas:
A. Keller Peak KE6TZG Repeater at 146.385, +, 146.2. Coverage:Greater Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, Orange and San Diego Counties.
B. Palomar Repeater on Palomar Mountain in San Diego at 449.300, -, 100.0 Coverage: Most of San Diego County
C. Portland W7RAT Repeater, Portland Oregon, at 440.4000, Standard offset, 123.0. Coverage: Greater Portland Area.
3. Through IRLP (internet Radio Linking Project) we can link any IRLP node to the Western Reflector at node 9251. This includes any repeater that is IRLP equipped. If your favorite repeater is so equipped, and they will allow us to run our nets once a week, you will be able to participate through that repeater.
4. With the aid of your computer (no radio needed), you can participate in the nets through Echolink by connecting to *World*, (just type in the word "world) in the search box) which is an Echolink connection to the Western Reflector at node 9251.
