MBED highly recommended
« on: April 21, 2014, 04:50:23 PM »

I wholeheartedly   recommend the MBED platform for getting into embedded design for the ARM processors.

www.mbed.org

Since its free and you dont need a compiler it would be very good for hams!

Hams could share their code  and very soon we could have a good ham repository of ARM code  in MBED.

ARM's are so cheap these days there is no logical reason not to use them. The power that have suit many ham projects because
most of the stuff hams would use micro controllers could be considered embedded designs.

Development boards for the ARM processors are as low as 7 dollars.

The MBED project is a very neat idea and would suite the ham radio hobby very well

Thanks for posting that, it seems to be a very interesting platform.  Have you developed any projects with it?

Yes, I have mostly small ham projects. Things like amplifier sequencers, monitoring, step-start, voltage and current monitoring etc etc.

These projects were all done with the LPC1768.

I am working on the code now for a STEPPIR Vertical for portable operation. I call it my CRAPPER.
It will use a stepper motor and  ARM Cortex M3. I have already tested the contactor  for the beryllium copper tape. It can handle 10kw.
