What is eHam.net's policy on members posting for sale illegal CB type non-certified amplifiers in your classified ads?  I sent an email about this to the classified ad manager a couple of times but I guess he has been out fishing and hasn't had time to respond.  Of course it has been about a year since I ask him the first time.  I know that QTH has a warning posted on their classified ads that illegal amplifiers are not allowed as per FCC rules and regs.  I routinely see the Italian RM amplifiers and others listed by hams on your site and none of their amplifiers are type certified by the FCC.  We can hardly complain about dirty signals when our own sites are allowing this type amp for sell.  Ebay is bad enough without eHam also allowing their sell.  73, Ray AK4RL

Commercially manufactured non type accepted amplifiers are generally not allowed. You are probably aware that the FCC does allow amateurs to build their own amplifiers and do not require type acceptance provided that no more than one per calendar year is constructed. These amplifiers can be sold to another amateur.

not to mention all the old Heathkits, Drakes, Henrys, etc. that are still out there without modern type certification.... however, they're pretty much all tubes, and tubes don't have even-order spurs unless you turn them into sprayguns with bad bias, overdriving, etc. as long as you tune them so they radiate on the primary frequency, the odd-order out of band stuff will be down nicely.

It is NOT illegal for a ham to BUY them.

If real cheap they could be good for homebrew parts or modified into a real ham amp.

The real big problem here is that when rules were set down decades ago Ham had a much higher degree of competence and technical ability and it was assumed that they could build, maintain and use equipment properly but today's mail order ham tickets have prevent much removed that skill set for operators and it time to change rules to reflect that.  (not that its going to ever happen)

Yeah, I have read their advertisements, but, the info on them is just hype.

look up the ACTUAL FCC cert number and read what it REALLY says.

RM Italy is an FCC grantee and they do have three FCC certifications for amateur radio linear amplifiers. Two are for 10 meter amps and one is for the HLA-305 80-10 meter amp. All were issued by the FCC in 2014. The certification numbers are 2ACTRKL7505V, 2ACTRKL7405V, and 2ACTRHLA305V .

If they have been issued FCC identifiers, they are FCC certified.

certified for what mode of emission? makes a difference.  FM is just a carrier shift, there is no power slope.  SSB is just half a carrier, and it slopes all over the scope. if the amp is not linear, it's going to distort the signal.  this is not good, unless you're playing guitar in a death metal band.

They are certified for all the classes and bands of which the amplifier is capable. A manufacturer cannot "pick and choose" what features they certify if that is your question/implication.

Also consider that dealers are liable for selling non-certified amplifiers. When you see quality companies like DX Engineering selling these amps, you can be sure they have done their homework with regard to the appropriate certifications.

I saw the CB large Amplifiers, (Illegal) ...They have the power!...only one band, (11 meters) though.. I saw on you tube, 10 Kilo Watt Amplifier....I also saw a 50 Kilo watt Amplifier but can't find it...
