Has anyone developed a fix to improve the GPS reception with the Yaesu FT2D?

If it's like the FT3dr, turn the battery save way down, open the squelch almost all the way and use a full 1/4 long 2m rubber duc.  After I did all this, the APRS receive became quite good - about the same as my APRS-droid setup.
